Can Crusade terms of use
Last updated: 29 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and William Bux, trading as Reharnessed ("we", "us"), a sole trader based in England, whose business address is [BUSINESS ADDRESS], for using the Can Crusade app. By creating an account or playing, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Our privacy policy explains how we use your personal data.

1. What Can Crusade is
Can Crusade is a free location game. You visit real shops, scan energy drink cans to claim them as "potions", earn XP, fill in your Codex, hold shops, join a house with other players and compete on leaderboards.
Can Crusade is an independent fan game. It is not connected with, sponsored or endorsed by any drink brand, manufacturer or shop. Brand and product names belong to their owners and are used only to identify the drinks.
2. Who can play
- You must be 18 or older, wherever you live. Several countries ban selling energy drinks to under-18s, and we do not want the game to encourage younger people to buy them. When you create your profile, you confirm you are 18 or older. If you are not, you must not use Can Crusade. If we find out a player is under 18, we will close the account and delete its data.
- You need a valid email address to sign in, or a Google account on Android and the web.
- One account per person. Do not share your account or sign in as someone else.
- Can Crusade is available worldwide, except in Canada and Kazakhstan. You must follow the laws where you play, including any rules on buying energy drinks.
- You must not use Can Crusade if you are barred from receiving services under the laws of the UK, the US or the country where you live (for example, because of sanctions).
3. It is free
Can Crusade is free to download and play. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no paid boosts and no ads. XP, levels, titles, potions, skills, badges and the shops you hold have no money value. They cannot be bought, sold, traded or exchanged for anything outside the game, and you do not own them.
Claim a can when you buy it. You never have to drink it.
4. Drink sensibly
Can Crusade is a collecting game, not a drinking game. It is designed so that you do not need to drink lots of energy drinks to do well:
- XP is paid for at most four claims a day. You can still scan more cans, but they earn nothing extra.
- Claiming the same drink at the same shop again within 12 hours earns no XP.
- The big XP rewards are for rare flavours, new shops and holding shops, not for how many cans you get through. A daily streak needs only one claim a day, and patrolling a shop earns XP without buying anything.
Energy drinks contain high levels of caffeine and, often, sugar. Health and food safety bodies in many countries advise that they are not suitable for children, and that people who are pregnant, breastfeeding or sensitive to caffeine should avoid or limit them. Please follow the advice on the can. Nothing in Can Crusade is health or nutrition advice. If you are worried about how much caffeine you have, speak to a pharmacist or doctor.
In some places it is illegal to sell energy drinks to people under a certain age. Can Crusade does not change that. Never buy, or try to buy, a drink you are not legally allowed to buy, and never ask someone else to buy one for a person who is too young.
5. Stay safe and respectful
While playing, please:
- keep aware of your surroundings, and never use the app while driving or cycling;
- not go anywhere you are not allowed to be, or anywhere unsafe, to claim a potion;
- respect shops and their staff – put cans back where you found them, follow shop rules, and leave if asked;
- remember that holding a shop in the game has nothing to do with the real shop. Do not bother shop staff about it;
- not harass, follow or try to meet other players because of something you saw in the game.
You play at your own risk. You are responsible for your own safety and behaviour while out and about.
6. Fair play
Can Crusade only works if everyone plays honestly. You must not:
- fake your location, including GPS spoofing apps, mock locations, emulators or any other way of making the app think you are somewhere you are not;
- scan barcodes that are not on a real can in front of you – for example barcodes from photos, screens, printouts or generators;
- suggest drinks that do not exist or give false details about them, or drop pins for places that do not sell drinks;
- use more than one account, or work with others to boost XP, hold shops or win attacks unfairly;
- tamper with, reverse-engineer, or automate the app, or interfere with our servers or other players' accounts;
- claim cans you are not buying, for example by scanning cans on a shop shelf and leaving them there;
- exploit bugs instead of reporting them to us.
The app runs automatic checks (for example, distance from the shop, GPS accuracy, simulated locations and travel that would be impossibly fast) and we may review activity that looks unusual.
If we reasonably believe you have broken these rules, we may, depending on how serious it is:
- remove claims, patrols, shops you hold, pins or names;
- take back XP (see section 7);
- reset your progress or remove you from leaderboards;
- suspend or close your account.
We will tell you what we have done and why, unless doing so would help someone cheat. If you think we have got it wrong, email privacy@playcancrusade.com and we will look again.
7. XP that can be taken back
XP from claims, patrols, attacks or holding shops that broke the fair-play rules can be taken back. This is shown in your XP history. Taking back XP can lower your level or rank.
Season XP counts the XP you earn in the current calendar month, and the season leaderboard starts again at midnight UTC at the start of each month. Your total XP and level are never reset by a new season.
8. Names and what you add
8.1 Usernames and house names
Your username is public, and so is the name of any house you lead. They must not:
- be offensive, hateful, sexual, or threatening;
- impersonate another person, a brand or us;
- include personal information, such as your real full name, phone number or address.
We may change or remove a username or house name that breaks these rules.
8.2 Pins and drink suggestions
You can drop pins for places that sell drinks (such as vending machines or gym fridges), and suggest drinks that are not in the Codex yet. When you do:
- make sure the information is accurate, and do not include personal information about anyone in a pin name;
- do not pin private homes or anywhere the public cannot go;
- pins can be seen by players in every country, and drinks we approve join one worldwide Codex;
- you give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide, permanent licence to use, store, show, change and share that information in Can Crusade, so other players can see and benefit from it. Drinks we approve stay in the Codex after you delete your account, with nothing linking them to you;
- we check every drink suggestion before it reaches the Codex, and we may edit, merge, reject or remove anything you add.
8.3 Reporting, complaints and appeals
If you see a username, pin name or house name that breaks these terms or the law, please report it in the app (tap the name on the leaderboard, or use "Report a name" on a shop) or email privacy@playcancrusade.com. We review reports and remove illegal content as soon as we can. If something puts a person in immediate danger, call the police first.
You can also email us to complain about:
- content you think is illegal, or that breaks these terms;
- something we did about your own name, pin or account, such as removing it or closing your account (an appeal);
- the way we follow our duties under the UK Online Safety Act.
We will look at every complaint, tell you what we decided, and put things right if we got it wrong.
9. Your account
- Keep access to your email account secure, since sign-in codes are sent there.
- You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Delete my account. This permanently deletes your progress and cannot be undone.
- We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, or if the law requires it. We may also close an account that has been inactive for 12 months. We will email you at least 30 days before closing an inactive account.
- If you lead a house and delete your account, the house closes. Hand it over to another member first if you want it to carry on.
- If we decide to shut Can Crusade down, we will give you at least 30 days' notice in the app where we can.
10. The app and changes to it
Can Crusade is a hobby project offered free of charge. We will try to keep it running smoothly, but:
- it may sometimes be unavailable, slow or have bugs;
- map data, shop locations and drink information come partly from other players, OpenStreetMap and Open Food Facts, and may be wrong or out of date;
- we may change, add or remove features, rebalance XP or the rules for holding shops, or change how seasons work at any time.
Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, served by OpenFreeMap. Drink and barcode data from Open Food Facts, made available under the Open Database Licence.
11. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. Your legal rights as a consumer under the law of the country where you live are not affected. For example, if you are in Australia, nothing in these terms excludes the consumer guarantees in the Australian Consumer Law.
Apart from that, and only as far as the law where you live allows:
- Can Crusade is provided free and "as is", without any promise that it will be error-free or always available. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, or for losses caused by you breaking these terms;
- we are not responsible for what happens at shops or other places you visit, for drinks you buy or drink, or for how other players behave;
- if we are legally responsible to you for anything else, our total liability is limited to £50.
If digital content we provide damages your device or other content because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will either repair the damage or pay you compensation.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features. We will change the "Last updated" date and, for important changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep playing after that, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
13. Law and disputes
If you have a problem, please contact us first at privacy@playcancrusade.com. Most things can be sorted out quickly that way. We will try to reply within 14 days.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer, this does not take away any protection you have under the mandatory consumer laws of the country, state or province where you live. You can bring a claim either in the courts of England and Wales or in the courts where you live. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can bring a claim in your local courts.
14. General
- If any part of these terms is found to be invalid, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer this agreement to someone else who takes over Can Crusade. We will tell you if this happens, and it will not reduce your rights.
- No one else has any rights under these terms, except Apple as set out in section 15.
15. App stores
If you downloaded Can Crusade from the Apple App Store, these extra terms apply:
- these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and we (not Apple) are responsible for the app and its content;
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app;
- Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that it does not meet legal requirements, consumer protection or privacy claims, or claims that it infringes someone else's intellectual property. We are responsible for dealing with those claims as far as these terms say;
- you confirm you are not in a country subject to a US Government embargo or on a US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties;
- Apple and its subsidiaries can enforce these terms against you as third-party beneficiaries;
- the app is free, so the App Store's refund terms do not apply.
If you downloaded Can Crusade from Google Play, Google's terms for Google Play also apply to the download.
